Remember that there's always a good reason why you left someone. If you left them because you were moving too far away, or due to the stresses of work or school it'd be fine to reconnect once your lives are back in gear. However if you separated because they beat you in the face, cheated on you, stole from you, or was generally a jerk then forget it. People don't change.

I broke up with my first boyfriend because he had commitment issues and was pushing me away. About five months later he started contacting me again and we got back together. A couple months after that we broke up again because of course he STILL had commitment issues. Unless you address the problems that broke you up in the first place, don't even try getting back together.

We were married 10 years when he left me for another woman. About a year later we agreed to try to save our marriage and put our family back together. (He did a lot of begging) I took him back. I was very much in love with him. Now 15 years later, he has left for another woman again. I'm older and am very afraid of my future. I do not want him back this time, as a matter of a fact I have filed for a divorce. I have found out that he had been cheating on me all along. Mostly with one night stands. I guess my advice would be be sure you want back what you left in the first place. Hope this helps Red

We dated for two years and were apart for 4 months because he lied to me about almost everything, including even the smallest things, when we decided to try and make it work again. Everyone else here is right, people don't change. He is always going to be a loser.
